WHERE DID
TALL BIKE JOUSTING
BEGIN?

The history of tall bicycle jousting is hazy at best. We know the Victorians built extremely tall bicycles to aid in lighting their gas street lamps. It spared the public servants from the tedium of moving a ladder to and from each lamp. But, did they crash them into each other?

Or, could it all have been inspired by a scene in the 1990 Bill Murray/ Gena Davis/ Randy Quaid film, Quick Change? Did some mad alchemist put the two together in a wicked plot to take over the sporting world and the global oil supply? We may never know, but by the mid 2000's, tall bike jousting was a legit thing and growing. And now it's paired with a fine sour or IPA from craft breweries. The perfect marriage!
